Artist Statement

Sarah’s enjoyment of architecture and nature around her is evident in her photographs.  She is particularly drawn to images that have a strong contrast between light and dark, and that portray a sense of space and scale in its setting.

Sarah has studied at  the Haliburton School of The Arts, Toronto School of Art, and graduated from the 3-year adult visual art program at The Art Centre at Central Technical School in 2010.

Sarah was part of Photosensitive’s “Cancer Connections” project with her digital submission “Ode to Judy” which was part of their cross-Canada tour in 2010 and was featured as part of  a 2-page spread in the Toronto Star.  It was also included in their recently published book, “Cancer Connections: Images of Hope and Courage From Across Canada”.  “Ode to Judy” is a tribute to her friend who died from cancer at the age of 51.  Sarah continues to be involved in Photosensitive’s ongoing projects.

Sarah has participated in several group shows, completed several private commissions, and donated works to charitable organizations, and her work hangs in the homes of collectors. “If you love it, you should do it!”, cherished advice given to Sarah by her Uncle Alan in 1988 when he learned of her love for visual art. As he passed away the following year, he never got to see the results of his small but powerful statement.  Sarah continues to pursue her passion in photography and digital media and continues to photograph the world around her.
